Lake Johnson Park
This recreation area has 5+ miles of trails, a lake with boat rentals, picnic areas, and fishing. The park is 500 acres, with the lake occupying 150 of them. There is an indoor building that you can rent at this link. They have a pool at the park because you cannot swim in the lake.

Laurell Hills Park
This 48 acre park is a multi use preserve with sports fields, a pond, and walking trails. There is a center that offers youth programs year round, use this link to research them. Here is the rental information for the park. There is a gymnasium that you can rent for $65 per hour. In addition, there is a meeting room for up to 125 people for $75 per hour and a dance studio for $40 per hour. Their outdoor shelters hold up to 75 people and can be rented here for $15/hour.

This is the 5th oldest park in the entire United States. They have a carousel, mini train, and playground. The park dates back to the 19th century. The park is 66 acres large and the famous carousel is $2 to ride. The community center can be rented at this link. There are tennis courts, baseball/softball fields, and a brand new arts center. The outdoor rental options include: a gazebo, fountain terrace, carousel pavilion, and 6 shelters, and a stage. They can be rented here.

North Hills Park
Just north of downtown Raleigh, this park has multiple sports areas, 2 playgrounds, and shelters to rent. This 32 acre park has one shelter available for rent, use this link. It can hold up to 100 people and costs $15 per hour.

Shelley Lake Park/Sertoma Arts Center
Another park surrounded by a lake, this one is just a little north of town, walking distance to activities in Raleigh. The park is 145 acres, has an art center, and 2 miles of paved trails. There is a playground and a fishing pier. There are no rentals available so feel free to enjoy a free picnic.
